Welcome to Adderley Travel, the specialists in small group garden tours for overseas visitors to Britain

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is currently preventing us from operating any of our planned tours, but we do hope that normal service will resume in 2021!

Why choose Adderley Travel?

Because we care.

We care that we cross the Kylerhea straits – the narrow stretch between Skye and the mainland – on Glenachulish, the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, and we care that we take you to The Shed, in Porthgain, for the best Fish & Chips in Wales, and we care, too, that we take you to dinner at the 14th-century Star Inn, in Harome, one of Britain's first Michelin-starred pubs!

We care deeply that we show you the best, the most interesting and, occasionally, the most peculiar.

Truth be told, visiting the gardens is the easy bit. Yes, it takes time and practice and experience to create the right balance of gardens, but our journey there and back, and what else we do each day, is just as important – and sometimes more so.

Guiding principles

Since our first tours in 2000, we have welcomed hundreds of visitors to Britain, and we are very proud to have customers from some 23 different countries, including from most States of the US – and we are especially proud of the fact that so many customers return to us, some returning year-after-year.

We started this business twenty-one years ago with a clear vision of what might attract like-minded people to join our tours, and central to that vision are four guiding principles...

Small groups

home-smallgroup

Groups must be small, comprising no more than a dozen or so like-minded people.

Compact tour areas

Likewise, tour areas must be a manageable size, so we may explore unhurriedly, without spending all day on the bus.

Good food

home-goodfood

We must eat well. Britain produces some of the very finest ingredients, and we enjoy showcasing some of the best regional cooking at superb local pubs and restaurants.

Comfortable hotels

And we must sleep well too. A good night's sleep is key to a good tour, and we seek out family-run, independent hotels serving good food, in attractive locations.

A spectacular backdrop

Every day, on every tour, we enjoy a backdrop of stunning countryside, or spectacular coastline or historic cityscape and, if that were not enough, we add a healthy diet of local history, culture and heritage – starting the day with a good breakfast and ending it with a memorable dinner.

2021 tours

From Land's End, the most south-western tip of the British mainland, to the northern reaches of the Scotland Highlands, and from Provence to the Loire, our 2021 programme of small group, fully-escorted tours is packed with wonderful experiences of Britain and of France, its landscape, culture and heritage.
