Welcome to Adderley Travel, the specialists in small group garden tours for overseas visitors to Britain

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is currently preventing us from operating our tours, though we hope to resume in September. Please contact us for further information. Thank you.

Why you should choose Adderley Travel

Besides the fact that we will be celebrating our 21st anniversary in 2020 – and twenty seasons under our belt is a decent apprenticeship! – you should choose Adderley Travel because we care.

We care that we cross the Kylerhea straits – the narrow stretch between Skye and the mainland – on Glenachulish, the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, and we care that we take you to The Shed, in Porthgain, for the best Fish & Chips in Wales, and we care, too, that we take you to dinner at the 14th-century Star Inn, in Harome, one of Britain's first Michelin-starred pubs!

We care deeply that we show you the best, the most interesting, occasionally the most peculiar, and frequently something a little different. Truth is, visiting the gardens is the easy bit. Yes, there's fine-tuning the selection of gardens, so that we get the palate across the tour right, but just as important – more so sometimes – is our journey there and back, and what else we do each day.

We will go out of the way, sometimes quite literally, because we care.

Since our first tour in 2000, we have welcomed hundreds of visitors to Britain, and we are very proud to have customers from some 23 different countries, including customers from most States of the US – and we are especially proud of the fact that so many of our customers return to join our tours, some returning year-after-year.

We started this business twenty years ago with a clear vision of what might attract like-minded people to join our tours – and central to that vision were the following key principles:

Small groups

On the steps at Iford Manor, Wiltshire

Groups must be small, comprising no more than a dozen or so like-minded people.

Compact tour areas

Likewise, tour areas must be a manageable size, so we may explore unhurriedly, without spending all day on the bus.

Good food

We must eat well. Britain produces some of the very finest ingredients, and we enjoy showcasing some of the best regional cooking at superb local pubs and restaurants.

Comfortable hotels

We must sleep well too. A good night's sleep is key to a good tour, and we seek out family-run, independent hotels serving good food, in attractive locations.

These are our four founding principles – they have served us well and we don't intend to change them!

A spectacular backdrop

Every day on every tour we have the backdrop the spectacular British countryside and coastline, and, if that were not enough, Britain's history and heritage will play its daily part too.

2020 tours

From Land's End, the south-western most tip of the British mainland, to the northern reaches of Scotland, our 2020 programme of small group, fully-escorted tours is packed with wonderful experiences of Britain, its landscape, culture and heritage.

Come and explore it.
