Small group garden tours for discerning visitors to Britain

So why choose Adderley Travel?

Because we will take you across the Kylerhea straits – the narrow stretch between Skye and the mainland – on Glenachulish, the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, or because we take you to The Shed, Porthgain for the best Fish & Chips in Wales, or because we dine at the 14th-century Star Inn, Harome, one of Britain's first Michelin-starred pubs!

Truth is, anyone can take you to a garden – that's the easy bit. For us it's more about which gardens to go to, how we take you there, and what we do afterwards. We go out of the way, sometimes quite literally, to make it just that bit more special.

Since our first tour in 2000, we have welcomed hundreds of visitors to Britain, and we are very proud that we have some 23 different nationalities of customer, including customers from most States of the US – and we are especially proud of the fact that so many of our customers return to join our tours, some of them year-after-year.

We started this business twenty years ago with a clear vision of what might attract like-minded people to join our tours – and central to that vision were the following key principles:

Small groups

On the steps at Iford Manor, Wiltshire

Groups must be small, comprising no more than a dozen or so like-minded people.

Compact tour areas

Likewise, tour areas must be a manageable size, so we may explore unhurriedly, without spending all day on the bus.

Good food

We must eat well. Britain produces some of the very finest ingredients, and we enjoy showcasing some of the very best regional cooking at superb local pubs and restaurants.

Comfortable hotels

We must sleep well too. A good night's sleep is key to a good tour, and we seek out family-run, independent hotels serving good food, in attractive locations.

These are our four founding principles – they have served us well and we don't intend to change them!

A spectacular backdrop

And we take it as read that the backdrop to all our tours will be the beauty of the spectacular British countryside and coastline, and that Britain's history and heritage will play its daily part too.

2019 tours

From Land's End, the south-western most tip of the British mainland, to The Orkney Islands, off the northern most tip of Britain, our 2019 programme of small group, fully-escorted tours is packed with wonderful experiences of Britain, its landscape, its culture and its heritage.
