May in Provence and the Loire Valley (again!)

Lunch and a glass of something chilled in Sancerre, the Loire Valley

My very lucky husband spent three weeks in France in May. We had a ‘public’ tour to Provence at the beginning of May and then our happy gang of Texans arrived in the south of France for a ‘private’ tour consisting of 6 couples who travel together regularly. The fields of wild flowers against a backdrop of gorgeous villages, amazing food, beautiful gardens and one or two Roman bridges and aqueducts make our job a delight.

I flew out to Marseille to join Tim for the final dinner in Provence at our hotel Moulin de Lourmarin with our lovely group. Then we started our long journey back through France to end up in the Loire Valley (again, we keep doing this!) for a recce of the area. We are researching and preparing for a ‘Chateaux of the Loire’ tour in mid June 2020. What a beautiful region it is – ram packed of gorgeous castles, from rustic fortifications to elegant renaissance chateaux with formally laid-out gardens. There is an abundance of beautiful gardens, it will be difficult to leave any out! On top of castles and gardens, of course, there are the vineyards to enjoy and sample from, we came home with a few bottles… it will be a joy to put together this tour for next year and I hope you will be tempted by it!
